Why Log books were required by law

When we first started researching the log books we found pasted into the front cover of the Bletchley Road Infants School 1909 the following article:

Because of this ruling Log books were kept going right through until the late 1990's. Unfortunately schools are no longer obliged to keep log books and so the wealth of the schools environment is no longer retained.
