In aid of the Belgian Refugee Fund, on the evening of Friday, February 5th 1915 a concert was given in the village schoolroom. This had been promoted by Mrs. and the Misses Dorothy and Ida Green of the School House, with the stage, decorated with flowers and flags, having been erected by Mr. Williams, the agent for Lord Penrhyn. The programme was mainly rendered by members of the Bucks Hussars from Buckingham, with Corporal Downes performance as a comic singer, and Corporal Goode’s songs, being well received. In addition, the singing of Miss Dorothy Green was much appreciated, as also that of M. Oudens Michel, a Belgian gentleman. Among the patrons were the Reverend Nelson Ward and the Countess Temple and her daughters.
