AND ANOTHER THING

It is said that global warming is causing the seasons to change and we are seeing early blossom on trees and such like. On the short stretch of redway parallel with Carisbrooke Way, which comes out opposite Monmouth Grove a strange new blossom has appeared on some of the shrubs, It is in the form of blue plastic bags containing what might be politely referred to as K9 Poo. There are six such bags along distance of no more than 10 yards (sorry metres), with more if you follow the trail.

GRAFFITI AND OTHER NASTIES
To date Kingsmead has been almost completely free from vandalism, antisocial behaviour, graffiti and the like. Unfortunately this may be set to change since it has been reported that graffiti has appeared at the entrance to Saltwood Avenue. Fortunately the residents were able to clean it off before it became too embedded so no permanent damage has been done.
Graffiti is known to plague other areas in the Parish and Mark Webber, our Parish Warden, and our Youth worker Andy Ridgway are keeping a close eye on it throughout the Parish as part of the clean neighbourhood campaign and might be able to identify from the 'tags' whether it is a new outbreak or known offenders. Either way, it will be better if it can be nipped in the bud. They have been made aware of this latest outbreak and will follow up any further incidents.

It would be helpful if anyone seeing the vandals at work or seeing graffiti around the area would contact Mark Webber on 0797 090 2357, or the Parish office on 01908 521538 during the day or, antisocial behaviour out of normal hours, Thames Valley police on 08458 505 505.

Please make sure that your own children are aware that graffiti is now an offence under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 which came into effect in March 2006 and is subject to a fixed penalty notice of £75 for minor offences .

Evidence suggests that if graffiti is removed rapidly and persistently it is less likely to come back so if we are to ensure that it does not become a problem locally we must all be pro-active and not just say "they ought to do something about it"

YET MORE

Whilst following the trail of 'doggy doos' One couldn't help noticing the bundles of 'Citizen' newspapers, still with their binding, also thrown into the shrubbery. Presumably someone's little darling is being paid to deliver these, please check it's not yours!

Full marks for picking up the little offerings but 0 out of 10 for then chucking the bag into the shrubbery. Left to its own devices the offending 'stuff' would biodegrade with time, although a hazard to footwear meantime, however in a plastic bag it will be there for ever!!
Since the bags are a distinctive blue colour one can only assume it is one individual being very consistent. If you know who you are will you please take the bags home and put them in your bin, not leave them around for future generations.!
The team digging the new road next to Carisbrooke Way say they have found dozens of bundles in the ditch as they have cleared it!
If you should see bundles of dumped newspapers, supermarket trolleys or any other items around the estate please let Mark Webber know and something will be done about it
