We were all working absolutely normally and we heard that the office staff had got a two bob rise, so we asked for a two bob rise. We didn’t get it, so somebody started storming round the place and I suppose we were all going a bit mad, running a bit riot and Sis Axby got up and. spoke to everybody. I don’t know whether everybody went down into the warehouse entrance but that’s where we congregated. Sis Axby got up on a box and started talking to everybody. While this was going on, I’m not sure whether they blew the whistle, but at any rate they sent us home. We called it a ‘lock out’, not a strike.
