The way they’re carrying on at Wolverton is disgraceful. The idea of wanting a war bonus is ridiculous. They ought to put them in the trenches and see the bonus they would get there. I would like to be at home. I would tell them something. The men there ought to be ashamed of themselves, when they know the army is wanting men badly to keep their homes above their heads. Half of them have their hearts in their feet. If the enemy get into England they would not think of war bonuses. They would have to do the same as the poor beggars out here - clear off in the nick of time. Some of them don’t have time to put all their clothes on. How could they be like this?
