One evening the girls’ union, well they hadn’t got a union then, it had just started, but I remember they walked the streets and they stopped outside everybody’s house that was working, like I remember us being in the front room watching them and they was booing and yelling like mad cos dad was at work you see. Everybody else was affected the same. It left, a, it left a black pit in me memory if you get me. It was something that I’d never seen before and the nastiness that really existed.
