Days of Pride title

In the 4 years between 1914 and 1918 a generation of European young men was virtually wiped out. They had left their homes in cities, towns and villages, many for the first time on what seemed to most of them an exciting adventure that was too good to miss. Most of those they left behind never fully understood the conditions that they had to cope with.

This website examines the effect of the First World War on the people of Wolverton and New Bradwell, two towns in North Buckinghamshire, England. Using eye witness accounts and documents of the time we follow the sons of these towns who went off to fight for King and Country, and we will learn what was happening at home while they were away.
