In 2005, a series of workshops were held with local residents of Woughton who talked about what they saw as being the history and heritage of Woughton. This is some of the things they had to say:

Since I came here in 1975, the town has grown a huge amount

The (Grand Union) Canal is really important for Woughton’s history

Houses in Woughton were provided for people working at the Open University – many people who worked there lived here in Woughton

I came up here to live because my sister moved up here in the 1980s. We have both been here ever since!

When Milton Keynes first opened for business you could only move here if you had a job to go to
