20. Plinths

plinth

Projecting plinth on London & North Western Railway Company housing, Buckingham Street

Some houses have projecting plinths; the bottom three foot or so of the house wall, finished with a top moulding or chamfer. The plinths are sometimes of blue engineering bricks or occasionally of stone.
