4. House Wall

house wall

Most Wolverton houses are built of red brick. Many of these bricks are hand finished and were made locally at places like Kiln Farm. Some, like those used on Wyvern School, are superior Heather bricks from Leicestershire.

Never, never paint or render the bricks. Both treatments will lead to damp sooner or later and give future maintenance headaches - and never ever cover with artificial stone cladding, perhaps the worst treatment brick houses can suffer. Artificial stone places extra weight on the walls and has been known to cause them to collapse!
