6. Cornice

The cornice is the top courses of bricks where the house walls meet the roof. Cornices can have interesting brick patterns and occasionally will be of moulded red terracotta.

Look round the streets, there are a great variety of cornice details, as these offered scope for the master bricklayers to display their skill!
