9. Lintels

The lintels above the windows are usually Bath stone, which is often painted. Lintels can be plain or, more usually, are carved in various simple patterns. Rows of houses may share the same design. Some houses have brick lintels. Any stone or brick features currently unpainted would require planning permission under Article 4 before they could be painted.
