Young Heritage Hunters

Me and my Milton Keynes

Year 7 students from Milton Keynes Academy were asked to write about the estates that they live in, the places that were important to them and some interesting facts about how they related to the heritage of Milton Keynes.

They researched facts and images from the past and took photos of where they live today. They also researched objects that were linked to them and Milton Keynes in some way. Some of them carried out interviews with family members and friends to find out what it was like when they first set up home in Milton Keynes.

They brought all the material together and each wrote the copy for their own display panel which was featured in the Exhibition Me and My Milton Keynes held at Discover Milton Keynes in MK Central Library. The Family and Friends interviews were made available on the exhibition's sound post.

The panels were later turned into a video presentation which can be seen on the new screens being installed in the local and district libraries around Milton Keynes.
