Viewers of the popular Peaky Blinders series may have been intrigued by the Russian connection and references to Bolsheviks and revolutionaries. The series itself has a basis in fact and the Bolshevik connection has an even stronger basis in fact. Governments had a real fear of Bolshevik inspired revolutions, which provoked Britain to a policy of armed intervention against the Reds.
This talk by Roger Penny covers the activities of the Royal Navy in the Barents, White, Baltic, Black and Caspian Seas, the newly created RAF in southern Russia as well the Army in all areas including the Far East.
WFA members and members of the public all welcome. A donation covers costs and a raffle. Refreshments available.
