Castlethorpe Historical Society, formed in 2014, holds talks by guest speakers every two months, as well as organising trips to centres of local historical importance and some ‘hands-on’ historical research projects.
By bringing together the records so far collected for Castlethorpe, a villagenear Stony Stratford, the personal and cultural achievements of the population can be sensed. More modern records and photographs are being included.
CBA South Midlands, an autonomous local group under the umbrella of the national Council for British Archaeology, covers four counties — Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire.
Supported by the Churches Conservation Trust, local residents have formed the Friends of St Lawrence group to create more opportunities for people to enjoy the church and its medieval wall paintings and to provide a focal point in the community.
