Mike's full international licence

Thanks to the encouragement and help of veteran racing motorist Arthur Mallock, of Roade, a 28-year-old Haversham engineer has obtained his full international licence, entitling him to drive in major car racing events.
This is a milestone in the career of Mike Paris, of 34 The Crescent, who having progressed from motor-cycles and saloon cars to go-karts and 130m.p.h racers is having a wonderful season in the comparatively slow but tricky 750cc Motor Club trials.

With three wins “on the trot” he stands a very good chance of claiming the championship in his first year. His wins have been at Cumberland, Bordon (Hampshire) and at Brands Hatch, and he has collected the Walsingham Cup. He came second in the “Silverstone Trial” at Tiffield and fourth in the Biggs Memorial Trophy at Tunbridge Wells. There is the possibility of two more trials this season.
Here again in this sport Mike has been partnered by Arthur Mallock. Together they have built their trials machine, a really stark Austin 7 special with a tuned engine that has a 1931 base and a 1937 cylinder head.
They are also hoping for great things from their U2 racing car which has been driven on several famous circuits including the one at Rheims.

For Mike this has been a great year, what with his trials successes and the award of his international licence after undertaking six restricted events watched by the chief R.A.C. steward. A long way indeed from driving tractors at Castlethorpe, buying his first £5 10s. motor bike at, 16, and learning his trade with Messrs. W. G. Sellick and Son of New Bradwell.
Mike 6ft. 4in. in his socks, is probably one of the tallest men to hold such a licence.
There is one other reason why this season will be a memorable one for him. His daughter Beverley Jane was born in February.
