Ben & Nancy's wedding cake As the wedding was just after the second World War and sugar was short, wedding cakes were often covered with a cardboard facsimile of an iced cake, as was Ben and Nancy's.

Although Nancy did not have a proper wedding cake of her own, over the years she made many wedding cakes for other people, which were always beautifully iced.
