Akela welcomed the assembled Parents to the Pack evening and explained the basic plan and aims of the activities to help illustrate their sons Cub Scouting.

Bagheera and a Father had collected the weekly subs and Baloo having taken the Grand Howl, inspection was undertaken with help of two mothers.

The Pack soon managed to forget the parents were present by enthusiastically participating in a game called Knocking the Bottle’ between the Sixes. Akela organised four parents to help run a relay game called ‘Pea Relay’ where the Sixes had to collect as many dried peas in a given time to win the competition.

Having used up some of the energy present in the boys, the Cub scouts went to their respective areas for Arrow work. Akela explained the activities each Arrow would be engaged in and invited the parents to mingle around the bases. Bronze Arrow involved themselves in Flags & Emblems, Silver in Observation and Gold in Local History.

We then enjoyed ourselves in some games where parents were volunteered to participate, where required, to even out the teams or Sixes. Two team games took place ‘Noughts & Crosses’ and ‘Thread the Needle’ causing great laughter and frantic movement. Two highly competitive Relay games were then organised ‘Puff Relay’ and ‘Broom Handle Relay’ and it must be said that Parents involved tried very hard to do their best.

A short Camp Fire then took place and after Akela explained the traditions of Camp Fire in Scouting the whole party enjoyed songs, yells and a Stunt called ‘The most ugly man in the World’. The Camp Fire brought the Parents Pack Night to a fitting end and Akela thanked our guests for their attendance and hoped that they had learned more about their sons Cub Scouting.

After Akela had taken the Grand Howl we all departed in high spirits.
