The Carrington Arms darts team. Castlethorpe have won the handsome silver trophy, put up for the first time by brewers, Messrs. Taylor Walker, Ltd. The semi-final and final games took place at Chesham on Thursday of last week, a coach load travelling from Castlethorpe.
Team captain Stan Wilson made sure of bringing the cup to North Bucks when, with 115 required, he got 60, 15, and double top. The team was one of 64 taking part from three counties, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire. The Carrington has only one bye and then defeated the Mitre (Buckingham), Windmill (Winslow) Old Hat (Preston Bissett), Red Lion (Haddenham) in the semi-final, and the Windmill (Aylesbury) in the final. The Carrington only lost one leg throughout the competition. Their team was Messrs. S. Wilson (capt) F. Willett, K. Foakes, K. Ray, A. Brownsell, W. Scripps, S. Gibbs, J. Gray, and reserves D. Canning and W. Booth. Each received a prize of a chromium fireside companion set. The trophy and prizes were presented by Mr. A.H.D. Livock, a director of Messrs. Taylor Walker.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Trace (host and hostess) are very proud of their team's achievement.
