"MID-MAY MADNESS" - an evening of entertainment put on by members of Castlethorpe W.I. and friends played to a full house in the village hall last week and earned £30 which is to go towards Kidney research. Trevor Yorke visited the dress rehearsal and managed to get the case to pose for some pictures.

The entertainment was a great success, so much so that it was regretted by all concerned that it could not have been presented on a second occasion. "What we needed was a much bigger hall or a second showing," one of the organisers told the STANDARD.

Pat Wesley, Sandy Payne Castlethorpe W.I. hit jackpot for hospital

Over £50 for Northampton General Hospital intensive care unit was raised by some Castlethorpe W.I. and friens on May 15th. and 16th. Their show "Mid-May Madness" was watched by two appreciative audiences.
Mrs. G. Cook was pianist for the singing which included a 1920-30's routine and songs about girls. Mr. ted Bates gave two monologues and Michelle Markham also gave two monologues. Mrs J. Frost was accompanied by her son Andrew and his friend on their guitars.
An amusing play reading "The Little Heir" and a sketch "Bumpity-Bump" made the audiences roar with laughter and confirmed their opinion of the show - most enjoyable.
