William Makey 1762

In the Name of God Amen I William Makey of Little Linford in the County of Bucks being weak in body but of sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding praised be God for the same Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First I give and bequeath unto my two Friends John Sybthorpe of Shenley in the County of Bucks Dairyman and Richard Patch of Newport Pagnell in the said County of Bucks Innholder the Sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds In Trust nevertheless that they the said John Sybthorpe and Richard Patch or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators do and shall as soon as conveniently they can after my decease put place out or continue the same at Interest upon Government or other Securities or laying it out in the purchase of Stock in the name or names of the said John Sybthorpe and Richard Patch or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators And my Will and Meaning is and I do hereby direct order and appoint that they the said John Sybthorpe and Richard Patch or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators do and shall pay and apply all such Interest as shall from time to time grow due for the same or such profit as thereof shall be made unto my dear and loving Wife Rebecca or Makey for and during the Term of her natural Life and from and immediately after her decease I do hereby direct Order and Appoint that the said John Sybthorpe and Richard Patch or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators do and shall Pay and dispose of the said Sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds in manner following (that is to say) unto my two Nephews Richard Makey and William Makey Sons of my Brother Valentine Makey their Executors and Assigns the Sum of One hundred Pounds a Piece to be paid them at their respective Ages of Twenty four years And in case either of my said Nephews shall happen to die before he shall attain the said Age of Twenty four Years then and in such case I do hereby give and bequeath the said Sum of One hundred pounds herein before bequeathed to him unto and amongst all and every the Daughter and Daughters of my said Brother Valentine Makey to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike And in case both of them shall happen to die before their respective Ages of Twenty four Years as aforesaid Then and in such case I do hereby give and bequeath the said two several Sums of One hundred Pounds to each of them before bequested unto my said Brother Valentine Makey one of the said Sums of One hundred Pounds and the other Sum of one hundred pounds unto all and every the daughter and daughters of the said Valentine Makey Share and Share alike as aforesaid Next I give and bequeath the Sum of Fifty pounds Residue of the said Sum of Two hundred and Fifty Pounds unto my Mother Elizabeth Makey and my brother and Valentine Makey to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike And in case of the death of either of them then I give the same to the Survivor of them But in case they both die before my said Wife then I give and bequeath the same unto all and every the Daughter and Daughters of my said Brother Valentine Makey to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike And my Mind and Will further is that in case my said Wife Rebecca Makey shall happen to die before my said Nephews shall have attained their Ages of Twenty four years as aforesaid then I do hereby Order and direct that my said Trustees or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators shall pay and apply all such Interest of the said Sum of Two hundred and Fifty Pounds or such profit as thereof shall be made unto my said Mother Elizabeth Makey until my said Nephews shall attain their respective Ages of Twenty four years as aforesaid Next I give and bequeath unto my said Mother Elizabeth Makey the Sum of Ten pounds to be paid her immediately after my decease Next I give and bequeath unto my said two Nephews Richard Makey and William Makey the Sum of Ten Pounds a piece in order to put them out Apprentices at their respective Ages of Fourteen years And which Sum of Twenty Pounds I do hereby order and direct shall be paid into the hands of the said John Sybthorpe for the purposes aforesaid immediately after my decease Next I give and bequeath unto my said Brother Valentine Makey All my Wearing Apparell as well Linnen as Woollen of what Nature or sort or kind soever Except as herein after is mentioned that is to say I give and bequeath unto my said nephew Richard Makey my Silver Watch and one sett of Silver Plate Buttons and unto my Nephew William Makey my Silver Shoe Buckles and two setts of Silver Plate Buttons and my Mind and Will is that after the decease of my said Wife Rebecca Makey I give and bequeath all my Books of what Nature or Sort soever unto and amongst all and every the Children of my said Brother Valentine Makey to be divided by my said Trustees or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators between them as near as Possible Share and Share alike And lastly as to all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Ready Money and Securities for Money Goods Chattels and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (my Just Debts and Funeral Expences being first Paid and Satisfied) I give and bequeath the same unto my dear and loving Wife Rebecca Makey her Executors and Administrators And I do hereby direct and declare my Mind to be that my said Trustees or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators shall not be charged or chargeable with the deficiency of any Security Fund or Stock to be by them or either of them had taken her or purchased as aforesaid and do and shall take to him and themselves all their Just and reasonable Costs and Charges which they any or either of them shall lay out expend or be put unto in the Execution of this my Will and shall not be answerable for the Acts of one another but for their own several and proper Acts only And I do hereby Nominate constitute and appoint my said Brother Valentine Makey and my said Wife Rebecca Makey Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revoking disannulling and making Void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made And do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said William Makey said Testator have to this my last Will and Testament sett my hand and Seal this Twenty first day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty two William Makey Signed Sealed published and declared by the said William Makey the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have here unto sett our Names as Witnesses at his Request and in his presents and in the presence of each other William Auld Susan Wattkin
