The Olde Swan pub, around 120 years ago

Organised by: Woughton Heritage

Our Open Days this year will review the research and information that the group has amassed during the 5 years of its existence. Extending back to the medieval beginnings of Woughton – or Wulha’s ton, or Ulchtone – and highlighting the Enclosures of the 18th century and other significant features of village life. We also take a look at a village in wartime and one at the heart of new town

A model of our nearest railway station, Fenny Stratford, will also be on display. The layout is an accurate representation of Fenny Stratford station on the Bletchley to Bedford line in the 1950s. The layout replicates the line from the Stag road bridge which carried the busy A5 over the Railway to where the Railway crosses the Grand Union Canal. It is based on the period when it was twin track all the way from Bletchley to Bedford and incorporates a busy goods yard serving Rowland’s timber yard, a small coal business and a livestock/loading dock.

Light refreshments will be available. Come and join us, have a cup of tea and a chat!

Location: The Church is easily seen, opposite the Olde Swan pub.
Access is through the lych gate. Car parking is available on the left of the drive to the adjacent Woughton House hotel.

Access: Full wheelchair access. Assistance dogs welcome. Pushchair/pram friendly.
