Welcome to Rectory Cottages Trust, Bletchley

Rectory Cottages is the most exciting old building in Milton Keynes. It was built in 1475 – 1476 and is traditionally attributed to the family de Grey, who held the manor of Bletchley from about 1220 to 1610 – the family is still around in the neighbourhood. We have a fine mediaeval hammerbeamed hall – a type found at Westminster, Hampton Court, Chester Cathedral and other notable places. Rectory Cottages may be a country cousin, but it keeps most distinguished company.

Rectory Cottages may have been the manor house, or the manorial court, or the hunting lodge for Bletchley Park next door, or all of these.

Nowadays Rectory Cottages is the Village Hall, and many local societies, clubs and groups use it as their meeting place. We may be able to help you too.

Our site gives you Notes for Users, a short history which is useful for schools (Key Stage Three), and a full architectural history reprinted fromĀ Records of Bucks,Vol XXX, in 1988..
