Philip Smith's Book "A Little Bird Told Me" is available from SHS for £12 plus £2 P&P - Details.
The Society offers a small number of other items for sale. These can make excellent small gifts for people who perhaps used to live in Sherington and have since moved away, or have family or friends here or are just interested in the village's history. All profits go towards the Society's work in preserving the village's heritage for the future.
- 1872 Murder and 1935 Churchyard Exhumation - This was the Society's first booklet. The first editions sold out, but it has now been revised and reprinted. It contains a collection of all the newspaper articles at the time of the murder, plus the subsequent trial and sentencing. The exhumation took place because of malicious gossip and rumour about an alleged affair of a husband and the sudden death of his wife. 26 pages. £2-00, plus post and packing.
- School Newspaper - The Society's second booklet is devoted to the 'The Sherington News (Senior Edition)', which was compiled in 1957/8 by the pupils of Sherington School. £1-50, plus post and packing.
- Notelets - The notelets carry copies of the 12 Edith Lucas paintings (in 3 sets of 4, all different). A pack of 4, including envelopes, costs £2-95, plus post and packing.
- Archive photos - We can provide picture postcard copies of many of the archive photographs on this website, or of other photographs in the SHS archives. If you are interested, please send us your requirements and we will be happy to provide a quote.
If you have any ideas for other items that we should offer for sale, please let us know. We will be delighted to hear from you.
How to Purchase:
Very simple: just send us an email stating your name and address and which items you wish to buy. One of the Committee Members will then contact you to advise you of the cost of post and packaging (which will depend on where you live), and the best method of making payment. Please note that we do not have facilities for accepting credit card payments, so please do not include such information in your email (which is not secure).
