The inside of the roofspace showing stone infill of one of the three round clerestory windows. The ladder on the left comes through the ceiling that has collapsed due to a leaking lead roof. The ceiling was replaced and replastered using lime mortar (lath and plaster) and horsehair. Daylight can be seen coming through the pine slats where the lead has been removed.
To help with the suspension of the ceiling galvanised wire was threaded through from underneath and over the joists and twisted. To tighten them up two oak wedges were inserted.
