WATTS 1764 1933
In June 1764 Evelyn, the last Duke of Kingston, sold Hanslope to William Watts, ex-governor of Bengal,
who died the following August. His son the successor Edward Watts then a minor, was lord of the manor in 1778.
In 1800 he settled it in favour of his elder son Edward, who died unmarried in the same year. The Manor passed in 1830 to the second son William, who died in 1847. His son William, who died in 1853, left a son, Edward Hanslope Watts,
who was shot by his gamekeeper in July 1912.
