CASTLETHORPE

Interesting Local Wedding: A very pretty and interesting wedding was solemnized at the Parish Church, Castlethorpe, on Wednesday, the contracting parties being Mr. Cyril Bruce Holman, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. O. Holman, of Willen, and Miss Annie Elizabeth Walker, only child of Mr. and Mrs. H. Walker, of Hanslope. Many friends of the bride and groom were present in the church. Given away by her father, the bride was dressed in white crepe de chine trimmed with lace and pearls, and she wore a veil over a wreath of orange blossom and carried a sheaf of lilies and carnations the gift of the bridegroom. There were three bridesmaids, the Misses May and Margaret Dorrill (her cousins) and Miss Grace Holman (cousin of the bridegroom). They wore dresses of daffodil crepe de chine, trimmed with silver lace and pink rosebuds. Instead of hats they wore wreaths of rose buds and ribbon on their heads, also pearl necklaces gifts from the bridegroom. They carried bouquets of choice flowers. A reception was held at the bride’s home after the ceremony, about 30 guests being present. Owing to the strike the bride and bridegroom were unable to proceed to Bournemouth for their honeymoon as arranged. The presents were a valuable and useful collection and included the following: Bride to bridegroom, gold cuff links; bridegroom to bride, handsome fitted handbag; parents of bride, bed spread and oak coal vase; parents of bridegroom, tea service, oak biscuit barrel and copper kettle; Miss C. Taylor, cheque; Miss F. Taylor; cheque; and many others.
