Thomas Johnson 1774

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Johnson of Castle Thurpe in the County of Bucks Maltster being sick and weak in Body but of sound and disposing Mind Memory understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first all that my Messuage or Tenement Malting orchard Garden yards outbuildings hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate standing and being in Castle Thorpe aforesaid and now in my own occupation and also all those my several pieces and parcels of arable Land Leys Meadows Pasture Ground situate lying in and being dispersed in the several open and common fields of Castle thorpe and in Hanslop in the said County of Bucks and now in the occupation of myself and Matthew Kingston of Castle Thorpe aforesaid and all other my Real Estate whatsoever either in possession or Reversion I give devise and bequeath the same unto my loving wife Mary Johnson To hold to her for and during the term of her natural life if she so long remaine unmarried provided always nevertheless that if she my said Wife shall happen to Marry again after my decease then I do hereby immediately from the death of her so intermarrying again or the time of her death which may first happen give devise and bequeath all and every such my said Messuage or Tenement Malting orchard yards outbuildings several pieces and parcels of arable Land Ley Meadow and pasture Ground Hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my daughter Mary Johnson and to her Heirs and assigns forever also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to her out of my personal Estate by my Executrix hereinafter named if she attain her age of twenty one years also all and singular my Goods Household Goods Chattels Cattle Debts Bonds Mortgages in ffee or for years Lease Moneys and dividends for Money Stocks Crop effects and all other my personal Estate whatsoever not herein before by me disposed of I give and bequeath the same unto my said Wife Mary and her Executors or administrators for ever she and they thereout pay the aforesaid Legacy of one hundred pounds to my said daughter Mary in the manner and at the time hereinabove directed for payment of the same my Just Debts my ffuneral Expences and the Charges of proving this my Will also I do hereby make Nominate Constitute and appoint my said Wife Mary sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made and I do declare this alone to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Johnson the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four The Mark of X Thomas Johnson signed declared published and declared by the above named Thomas Johnson the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in our presence and attested and subscribed in his presence and in the presence of each other by us Thomas Gammer John Nichols Elizabeth Johnson

This Will was proved at London on the thirteenth day of December in the year if our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four. Administration was granted to Mary Johnson Widow
