This is the last Will and Testament of me John Rainbow of Hanslope in the County of Buckingham, Farmer, First I direct that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied And I nominate and appoint my friend Richard Soden of Castlethorpe in the County of Buckingham Inn Keeper and George Harper a Clerk in the General Post Office in London who married a Sister of my Daughter in Law Rebecca Rainbow joint Executors of this my Will. And I give and bequeath to the said Richard Soden and George Harper the sum of Five pounds each as a slight remuneration for the trouble they may have in the execution of the trusts of this my Will I give and bequeath all my Farming Stock both live and dead crops cattle and implements of husbandry And all my monies securities for money book debts and household furniture and effects And all other my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto the said Richard Soden and George Harper Upon trust so soon as conveniently may be after my decease to sell dispose of and convert into money all and every the Property Estate and Effects hereinbefore bequeathed to them (save and except the sum of One hundred pounds due to me upon security of certain hereditaments at Castlethorpe aforesaid late the property of my Son John Rooker Rainbow deceased in respect of any lands held by me the tenancy whereof shall not at my decease be determine but which tenancy I desire my Executors to determine as early as possible and the aforesaid Legacies to my said Executors and also the Legacy of Nineteen pounds nineteen shillings to my Granddaughter Mary Ann Rainbow the Daughter of my Son George Rainbow and the Legacy of Five pounds to my Brother William Rainbow to whom respectively I give and bequeath the same Legacies accordingly And I direct that all the aforesaid Legacies shall be paid within Twelve calendar months next after my decease And upon further trust after making the payments and deductions aforesaid to divide the said residue of the monies arising from my said Property Estate and Effects and the said sum of One hundred pounds so due to me upon security as aforesaid into four equal parts or shares which I give and bequeath as follows that is to say One such parts or shares unto and equally between such of the Children of my late Daughter Jane Woodland deceased who shall be living at my decease share and share alike One other of such parts or shares unto my said Son George Rainbow but if he shall die in my lifetime then unto and equally between such of his children including the said Mary Ann Rainbow who shall be living at my decease share and share alike One other of such parts or shares unto my Daughter Martha the Wife of Thomas Harris of Castlethorpe in the said County of Buckingham but if she shall die in my lifetime then unto her Daughter Ann Harris absolutely And the remaining fourth part or share unto Rebecca Rainbow the Widow of my said Son John Rooker Rainbow deceased but if she shall die in my lifetime then unto and equally between such of the children of my said Son John Rooker Rainbow who shall be living at my decease share and share alike And I expressly direct and declare that the said sum of One hundred pounds so due to me upon Security of the Property of my said Son John Rooker Rainbow shall be set apart and accepted by the parties becoming entitled thereunto in part discharge of the said last mentioned fourth part or share And I give and devise All Estates which shall at the time of my decease be vested in me upon trust or by way of Mortgage unto and to the use of the said Richard Soden and George Harper their heirs and assigns for ever Upon and subject to the trusts and equity of redemption affecting the same respectively And I declare that my Executors and Trustees shall be answerable only for the monies which they shall respectively actually receive and for their own acts and defaults only and shall not be responsible for any loss which may arise during the continuance of the tenancy of any lands held by me which shall not have expired or be determined at my decease or in any other way unless the same shall happen through their own wilful neglect or default And further that my said Executors and Trustees my reimburse themselves and their Co-Executors and Co-Trustees all costs and expenses incurred in or in relation to the trusts of this my Will. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Sixteenth day of November One thousand eight hundred and forty nine.
