Will of Anthony Leeson 1587
father of Jane Leeson
In the name of God Amen I Anthonie Leeson of ffrankton in the countie of warwick bachelor of the Lawes benige sicke of bodie but of good remembrance thankes be to Allmighty god doe ordaine and make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following, ffirst I bequeath my soule to Allmightie god and my bodie to be buried in the pishe church or church yard when or where yt shall please god to call me to his greate marcye
Item I give and bequeath towardes the reparone of the chappell of Abthorpe xii d and to the poore people of ffrankton fyve shillings.
Item I give and bequeath all that ffarme at Abthorpe with all the cropp of corne comnyinge and growinge upon the farme with all my terms of years yet to come with the cropp of corne and hey growing this year on my tenemente in ffoscott filde unto Avis my wief.
Item I geve and bequeath to the saide Avis my wief six of my best milche kyne with my best bull two yearling calves and two weaning calves the best she cann chuse
Item I give and bequeath to the said Avis my wief iiii oxon or steres and maine plough and all other thinges thereinto belonginge or in ainewise ptyinnge beinge at Abthorpe
Item I geve and bequeath to the said Avis my wife all my implements of household stuffe at Abthorpe saving and excepted one little ffetherbed and boulster and truckle bedd bedstead with all things to the same belonginge wch I geve to Jane Leeson my daughter with foure paire of sheets and also excepted and reserved one bedstead one ffetherbedd a boulster blanketes and coverlet with foure paire of sheets wch I geve and bequeath to Arthure Leeson my son and xcepted and reserved iiii paire of sheets wch I geve and bequeath to Thomas Leeson all the rest I geve to Avis my wief.
Item I geve and bequeath to the said Avis my wief one mare and my white nagge wth all my hovelles and ffirewood in the yarde wth half my tymber the other halfe I geve and bequeath to Arthur and Thomas Leeson my sonnes,
Item I eve unto the saide Avis my wief tenne poundes in redie money to buy hir fortie sheepe.
Item all my Landes and tenementes wth all other my heriditaments with all woodes, underwoodes waters pastures comens of pastures thereunto belonginge or in aine wise pteyninge all wth all knowne comonlie by the name of the manor of ffrankton with the advowson of or right of patronage of the pshe church of ffrankton in the countie of warwicke
All waies excepted and reserved one mese or tenement wth one close called ffrankton yard now in the occupacon of Edmund Tyrrie and also excepted and reserved those two yarde of lande latelie in the ocupacon of Willm Neddes wth six roodes of meadow called grindolls and those lees abutting on cobrees? and fyve yardes ande with comens and pasture and apperteynninge all wth landes and tenements and all other my heriditaments known by the name of the manor of ffrankton onlie excepted and reserved as ar above said I geve and bequeath to Thomas Leeson my sonne for terme of his natural lief and after his decease to the heires male of his bodie lawfullie begotten and for wante suche yshue unto Arthur Leeson for terme .. his lief and after his decease to the heires male of his bodie lawfullie begotten and for want of such heires to the right heires of me the said Anthonie for ever. I geve and bequeath all these landes before excepted and reserved viz one mese or tenement with one closure called ffrankton yarde now in the occupacon of Edmund Tyrrie and those twoo yarde landes latelie in the occupacon of William Nibbie wth ix roods of meadow called grindells and those lees abutting one chobrens ? sud Tyrrie his yarde ende wth al comon meadow and pasture thereunto belonginge and aperteynning unto Arthur Leeson my sonne for terme of his lief and after his decease to the heires males of his bodie lawfullie begotten and for lack of such isue to Thomas Leeson for term of his life and after his decese to the heires male of his bodie lawfullie begotten And for lacke of such heires to the right heires of me the saide Anthonie for ever
Item I give and bequeath to Jane Leeson one hundrethe poundes of lawful money of England without one yeare next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath to Arthur Leeson my son three mylch or borrishe ? kyne of those kyne I mean whereof my wish shall be take his choise wth one yearling calve and two ....calves them that be at Abthorpe
Item I give and bequeath to Arthur my son my worste ? carte at ffrankton with a plowe coller and share and three paires of horse trases at Abthorpe
Item I geve and bequeath to the said Arthur fyve quartere of barley at ffrankton and three quatere of pease to sow his croppe and fyve pounds of lawful money towardes the buyinge him a team to plowe his landes.
Item I geve and bequeath to Willm my poore Boye twentie shillings
Item I give and bequeathe to Edward Haddocke and Thomas [Mainsore?] my svtes to either of them ffyve shillings and to Steven Greves my svante twoo shillings
Item I geve and bequeath to Catherine Everret and Julian Groves to either of them fyve of shillings
Item all the residue of my goodes chattels debtes and redie money I give and bequeath to Thomas Leeson my sonne to paie all my debtses legacies and ffuneralles according to the great truste and hope I [repose?] in hym desiring also to discharge me of tenne poundes to be paide Mr Mathershedd whereof he hath a bill of my hande therefore demande the and request hym to see thi saide tenne pounds. a paide in such sorte and order as Mr Bynsey mynde was and advertise hym that yfe that bill had not bene yt had bene done longe or this tyme and therefore let yt be donne now uppon his pell
