Jane Leeson 1646

Extract from Jane Leeson's will.

Dated Twentyninth day of May 1646

After the death of me the said Jane Leeson hold posese and enioy the said Messuage or Tenement, Lands, Meadows, Closes, pastures, hereditaments and premises with their apputenances and receave and take the rent, yssus and proffitts theareof for ever more,upon trust hope and confidence in them by me reposed that they and theire heires ans assigns shall by and with those rents issues and profits yearly for ever heareafter well and truly pay and deliver the yearly sume of thirty pounds of Lawfull money of England, towards the releefe of the poore people for the time beinge, of the townes the townes and villages hearafter in this my will named, by such propartins and in such manner and forme as hearafter in this my will is proporcioned limited and expressed; That is say, to the poore people of Abthorpe and aforesaid and village of Foxcoate in the said County of Northampton yearely three pouns, To the poore people of Towcester and Woodburcoate yearly forty shillings. To the poore people of Brackly in the County aforesaid forty shillings yearely. To the poore people of Morton pinckney of ye said County twenty Shillings yearely. To the poore people of the parish of Paulers=pury aforesaid Thirty shillings yearely. To the poore people of Whitlebury yearely twenty shillings.To the poore people of Silveston alias Silston yearely twenty shillings. To the poore people of Siresham alias Sisam in the County aforesaid yearly twenty shillings. To the poore people of the parish of Wappingeham in the said County Thirty shillings yearely. To the poore people of Helmeden in the County aforesaid; Twenty shillings: To the poore people of Weston and Weedon pinckney in the said County yearly twenty shillings: To the poore people of Slapton aforesaid yearely twenty shillings: To the poore people of Braddon aforesaid yearely tenn shillings: To the poore people of the parish of Greense Norton in the County aforesaid thirty shillings yearely: To the poore people of the parish of Blaxely aforesaid thirty shillings yearely: To the poore people of Easton aforesaid and Hullcoate yearly twenty shillings: To the poore people of Cold Higham and Grimscoate in the said County yearely twenty shillings: to the poore people of Patishall in the said County yearely twenty shillings: To the poore people of Tighfeild in the said County yearely tenn shillings To the poore people of Witfeild in the County aforesaid tenn shillings: To the poore people of Alderton in the County aforesaid twenty shillings. To the poore people of Blisworth in the said County aforesaid yearely thirty shillings To the poore people of Plumpton yearely tenn shillings. And to the poore people of Frankton in the County of Warwicke yearely forty shillings. All which said severall sommes of money to be yearely pd for ever hearafter, and delivered by my said good friends trusted as aforesaid their heires and Assigns or some of them on the xth day of December to the severall and respective Church wardens and overseers of the poore for the time beinge, of the severall Towns and villages, and the same sverall sommes of money to be devided and distributed yearely and for ever hear after on the fourenteenth day of December by the severall respective Church wardens and overseers of the said severall townes and villages to the poor peole of the said townes respectively at and by the discrecon of the said severall and respective Church wardens and overseers of the poore for the time beinge of the severall Townes and villages in the presence and with the advice of the said sverall and respective persons, vicars, or Curatts for the time beinge of the said severall and respective Townes and villages, dwellings and enhabitinge in the same severall and respectively for and towards the releife of the said poore people, of the said severall and respective Towns and villages severally and respectively accordinge to my true intent, and good meaninge towards them And whereas likewise I have erected and built a schoole house [now] adioying to y mansion or dwelling house in Abthorpe aforesaid, my will is that the said schoole house shall ever be imployed to and for the aforesaid use, and that my Feeffees, Trustees afore named; theare heires and assigns shall pay unto a Schoole Master to teach the poore Children of the said Towne gratis; the some of eight pounds per Annum forever, at the twoe usuall feasts in the yeare by equall portions, (viz) foure pounds at the feast of St. Michall Tharchangell and foure ounds at the feast of Thnuntiation of our blessed Lady the Virgin Mary And for the better performance of all my Charitable giufts and limmitacons to the poore,and maintinance for a Schoole master, for the teachinge and educatinge of the poore Children as aforesaid and the continuance thearof, I do will and appoint, that at such time and times when it shall hapon that my said friends soe trusted as aforesaid shall be deceased saving five or sixe of them that then those five or six survivinge shall speedily make and execute a feoffemt: of the said Messuage, Lands Tennements and premises with theire appurtenance to five or sixe other honest and sufficient persons which shall be then Dwellinge within the severall Townes and villages before mentioned or some of them To have to hold the said messuage, lands and premises with theire appurtenances unto the said new Feeffees for the tie beinge and to theire heirs and assigns to the use of them and the other survivinge Trustees and theire heires in trust for the Charitable uses and purposes herein before expressed, And soe that the same Feeffees theire heires and assigns shall for ever more continue the premises in Feeffement amd make new Feffeement theare of in like manner to the Charitable uses aforesaid so often and from tie to time, as theare shall happen to be but five or sixe of the same Feffees (fore the time beinge) alive, To the end that my Charitable guift and limitacons may be Continued unto the worlds end for the releife of the poore people (for the tie beinge) of the severall Towns and villages aforesaid, as alsoe the teachinge and educatinge of the poore Childen Within the Towne of Abthorpe aforesaid.
