Alderton Leases c.1700

May 23 1699 A lease to Lawence Bland of several messuages and tenements and diverse parcels of land and meadows in Alderton late Aldrington and Potterspury in the County of Northampton for several terms of years to make up the present terms of years therein respectively now in being 31 years under ye several yearly rents of £2.13.6 & £1.5.7 and 8s amounting in the whole to £4.7.1 And of the Fine of £120

June 10th. 1700 A lease to Samuel Rolt Doctor in Physick of the seite of the Manor of Alrington in ye county of Northampton and of diverse Closes and parcels of land meadows and pasture parcel of the Manor of Aldrington for several terms of 6 years and an half to make up the present terms of years now in being in the said respective premises 21 years under several yearly rents of £9.2.2 and £1 making £10.2.2. And is for the Fine of £140

28th Nov. 1704 A lease to Henry Mathew gent of a messuage and lands in Alderton in ye county of Northampton for ye term of seven years and a half to make up ye present term of therein now in being 21 years ye yearly rent of one pound six shillings and nine pence. And is for ye fine of four and thirty pounds also of certain lands in Foxcote in ye said county for ye term of eight years and a half to make up ye present term of years therein now in being 21 years under ye yearly rent of forty shillings & eighty one pence. And for ye fine of £16 Both ye said fines making together £50

The farm of two acres of land at the Cockshot alias Cockshat under the frith of ye yearly rent of [7d]

And one little croft with halfe an acre of arable land unto the same adjoining of the yearly rent of [3d]

And also one cottage and one Peartree yard unto ye same adjoining heretofore Kinghams and Gardeners of the yearly rent of [4d]

And all that little Toft called Appletree yard lying between the lands of John Addington alias Aldrington and Nicholas Boyce of the yearly rent of [4d]
And also one other Toft hereto fore in the tenure of Jeffery row lying between Nicholas Boyses and ye King's Highway of the yearly rent of 4d heretofore in the possession of John Addington. All which said premises with the appurtenances now or late were in the tenure or occupation of Samuel Rolt and are seituate lying and being in the towns and parishes of Alderton, Potterspury and Cosgrave etc. 2/-

The farm of all that scite and capitall messuage of the Manor of Aldrington with the Rights Members and appurtenances whatsoever in the said County of Northton with the Orchard and Pond Yard, And all that Close of Land adjoining to the said Manor containing by estimation fourteen acres and one acres and an half. And two Closes called Ravens close and Kensham containing by estimation three roods. And one Close called Kendemote, And one Close of land and meadow called Rowels Meade otherwise Rawles Meade containing by estimation fourteen acres and one acre and one half of meadow by estimation lying and being in Dumma alias Dumore Meade, And three acres of meadow by estimation lying in Stayre Meade and one other parcel of land or meadow lying in the Common Meade called the Holme alias the [Helme] containing by estimation five acres three roods and one half rood, And also one hundred acres of arable land by estimation, And also one little pightle of land lying on the opposite part of the said Manor of Aldrington with their appurtenances parcel of the said Manor of Aldrington in the said county of Northampton which said messuages and premises were heretofore in the occupation of Richard Grobham.
And also all that messuage or tenement & one close of land unto the said messuage adjoining and twenty acres of arable land & three acres and one half acre of land more or less with their appurtenances situate lying and being in Alderton aforesaid in the said county of Northampton heretofore in the tenure of Robert Travel or his Assignes parcel of the said Manor of Aldrington in the county of Northampton.And also all that Close of land meadow and pasture called Parsonage Close containing by estimation three acres with the appurtenances lying and being within the Manor of Alderton alias Aldrington in the county of Northampton heretofore in the tenure or occupation of Henry Lamberd or his assignes together with all the feeding commons and common pasture unto the several and respective premises with their appurtenances respectively belonging or appertaining. Except all great trees & all woods underwoods mines and quarries growing & being in and upon the said several & respective premises or in or upon any part or parcel there off. Which said premises were by Indenture of the said Queen and her Trustees bearing date the 10th day of June 1700 Demised (amongst other things) unto Samuell Rolt of Alderton alias Aldrington aforesaid Dr. in Physick his Exec: Adm: and Assignes for the term of six years and a half from the thirteenth day of September which shall be in the year of Our Lord 1714 Yielding and paying therefore yearly and every year at Lady Day and Mich. By even and equal portion the rent or sum of £9.2.2
These 2 farms of Dr. Rolt the one at the rent of £9.2.2 and the other at the rent of £5.0.0
The Improved value of these two farms £114

The farm of all those two and fifty acres of arable land and three acres and one half of pasture more or less with all their appurtenances situate lying and being in Alderton alias Aldrington in the said county of Northampton now or late in the tenure or occupation of Richard Ives or his assignes parcel of the said Manor of Alderton otherwise Aldrington in the said county of Northampton. etc. Which premises were by the aforesaid Indenture Demised (amongst other things) unto the said Samuel Rolt for the like term of six years & an half from the 30th of Sept. which shall be in the year of our Lord 1714 Yielding and paying therefore yearly and every year at Mich. & Lady Day by even and equal portions the rent or sum of £1.0.0
