John Camfield 1522

In the name of God Amen the year of Our Lord God 1522 2nd day of July. I John Camfield of Alderton in the diocese of Lincoln. Husbandman whole of mind and good remembrance thanks be God make my Testament and last Will in this manner wise first I bequeath my soul to Almighty and to his blessed […] Saint Mary and to all the holy company of heaven my body to be buried in the churchyard of Saint Margaret of Alderton. I bequeath for my mortuary my best beast or goods I have after the custom of the town of Alderton aforesaid.
Item to the Cathedral Church of Lincoln 4d.
Item to the sepulchre light in the church of Alderton aforesaid 4d.
Item I bequeath to the said church of Alderton a torch.
Item to Saint Mary light in the said church 4d.
Item to Saint Margaret light in the said church 4d.
Item to the rood light in the said church 4d.
Item to the repairs of the bells in the said church of Alderton 12d.
Item towards the repair and new mending or […] the lead of the steeple of the said church of Alderton 6s 8d.
Item to every of my God children 4d.
Item to Issabell my daughter in goods cattle or ready [money] to the value of five marks shilling.
Item I will to Joanne my wife have and hold enjoy and possess all my land and appurtenances meadows leisure and pastures [illeg] reversions and with all and singular their appurtenances in the town and fields of Alderton Paulerspury Yardley Gobion and Northampton in the county of Northampton. For term of the life of the said Johne the remainder of all the estates of the said Johne my wife wholly to rent and return to the forsaid Issabell Camfield my [daughter] to have and to hold all the said land and tenements and all every the premises with their appurtenances to the said Issabell her heirs and assigns forever. The residue of all my goods above not bequeathed I fully give and bequeath unto the forsaid Johne my wife and I ordain make and constitute of this my Testament and last Will the said Johne my wife Thomas Capron and Thomas Camfield to be my executors they to dispose for the health of my soul as best shall please Almighty God these persons being witness John Mayewe clerk and parson of Alderton aforesaid John Rowe and Henry Camfield with others.
