In the name of God Amen I William Foddy of Alderton [illeg]. yeoman being weak in body but of sound mind and being in … make and declare this my last Will and Testament … that is to say, first and … I resign my soul into the hands of God my Father hoping that through the merits and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ … full washing of my sins and my body, I commit to the earth to be decently buried at discretion of my only executrix hereinafter named and as for the worldly estate God hath sent me I devise and dispose of the same as follows. First [I give to] my father Richard Foddy of Alderton aforesaid yeoman. Did (by a certain … Deed of Gift bearing date on or about the twenty second day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eleven) for the consideration mentioned [did] grant bargain sell and confirm unto me my heirs forever all his household goods pewter brass linen and woolen and such stock of corn grain and hay which he should die possessed of with the cattle t…ensi.. implements of husbandry and movable whatsoever. To have and to hold the same (of from and after the decease of my said father and the decease of Lucy his then wife and the decease of the longer live of them) unto me my heirs and assignees for ever. Now my mind and will is that my loving wife Margaret should (after the decease of my said father and mother and the decease of the longer live of them) have and enjoyed all such goods stock cattle and other chattels as are by the said Deed of Gift mention to be given to me to hold to her my said wife to her own proper use and behalf and to hold for on behalf of her and her heirs for ever and I do hereby give devise and bequeath the same to my said wife accordingly and my mind and will further is that if (after my decease) my said father & mother Margaret agree to inhabit and dwell with my said loving wife Margaret … separate her from them or turn her away that then my desire is that my said father or mother ( which happens to be survivor at the time of such parting) shall pay unto my said wife the sum of twenty pounds at the time they shall turn her away from them as aforesaid and my mind is that if my said wife loving wife shall marry at any time during the life of my father and mother that then written the said sum of twenty pounds nor any other sum of money shall be paid to her. But she shall wait till after the decease for the share of the goods stock and chattels (which by the said Deed of Gift are given unto me and which I have hereby given to her) shall fall to her and further I do nominate constitute & appoint my said loving wife sole executrix of this my will and testament and I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made and do herby declare this to be my last Will and Testament .
