John Franklin 1783
In the name of God Amen I John Franklin Older of Alderton in the County of Northampton Yeoman Do make this my last Will and Testament as follows. I give unto my three daughters Ann Mary and Elizabeth the sum of two hundred pounds each to be paid to them respectively by my executors hereinafter and as they shall attain their age of twenty five years or respective days of marriage which shall first happen. But provided my said daughter Ann shall behave herself becomingly to my executors or shall marry without their consent or approbation then my mind is and I do direct that the said Legacy of two hundred pounds so intended to be paid to her my said daughter Ann shall cease and be void anything herein before contained to the contrary thereof not withstanding. And I direct the said two hundred pounds so intended for the benefit of my said daughter Ann to be paid to and equally divided between my other daughters Mary and Elizabeth when my youngest daughter Elizabeth shall attain the age of twenty five years. All the residue and remainder of my goods chattels effects moneys securities for money and personal estate whatsoever and whensoever I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Mary Franklin and my son John Franklin to be equally divided between them they then out paying my debts funeral expenses for said Legacies and charges of proving this my Will. And I make and appoint my said wife Mary and my said son John joint executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former wills herefore made. I desire my two friends Samuel Smith of Paulerspury gentleman and Robert Cooke of Ashton yeoman will aid and assist my aforesaid executors in the management of their affairs and in the execution of this my Will.
In Witness that this my last Will and Testament I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand and seven hundred and eighty.
Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator John Franklin to his last will and testament in the presence of us and attested by us in his presence and of each other.
