Richard Holman 1545
The Will of Richard Holman of the parish of Alderton
In the name of God Amen on the 16th day of October in the 37th year [missing] sovereign Lord Henry VIII of England France & Ireland king [missing] forth and in earth supreme Head immediately under God of the church [missing] of Ireland I Richard Holman of Alderton in the county of Northampton being sick in body and whole in mind do make my last Will [missing] . In manner and form following first I bequeath my soul to Almighty God [missing] my body to be buried in the church yard of Alderton
Item [missing] 4 tapers after the day of my burial also I do make my executors [my] wife Augnes Holman and Thomas Holman my son.
Item I give [missing] 40s my violet gown lined with black cotton a white coat a pair of white hose a pair of shoes Also I give to Robert Holman [missing] to Margret Lynell my daughter 40s
Item to Eme my daughter [missing] to Elyn her daughter 20s
Item I give to Thomas my son [missing] furred with black la[me] a green coat and for that I will the [missing] Thomas do forgave Eme all such money as his be twe[missing] Thomas Holman my son my little house in Alderton [missing] give to my godson Richard Holman the son of John Holman 20s [missing] I set my executors give to every godchild that I have 3d a piece and all Christian soles also I give to Sybbyll my daughter [missing] be paid when she comes to the age of 14 years old and if it [missing] Sybyll depart before she come to the age above said that then 40s of the same [missing] be give among my children that it to say to the children of John Holman Eme [missing] and Margret Lynell and the other £3 to her mother my wife for her [missing] bringing of her up and her another my wife to form the custody of the said £5 to Sybell come to the age above mentioned Also I will that those [missing] debts paid my Will performed all my other goods unbequeathed I give them to Augnes my wife and Thomas my son and my wife to have my dwelling house in Alderton. Also I will none of these my legacies above mention be paid by the space of a whole year after my death except my executors will of there own goodness where they see most need Also I make overseers of this my last Will Thomas Furthoo Gent and John Holman my son and I give to the said Thomas Furthoo ..s for his labour. This being witness Thomas Camfyld Edward Penye Walter Ives and John Camfylde Also I to Jane the daughter of James Sausbye I give … the which is in the hands of Hamfraye Garett of Chappell Brampton her and all.
