Elizabeth Horton 1685/6
In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Horton of Alderton in the County of Northampton widow being weak in body but of perfect memory and understanding (Blessed be God for it) do make and constitute this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator hoping for a joyful resurrection to bliss and glory through the merits of Christian Burial at the discretion of my executor hereafter named and as to my worldly goods which God hath lent me I dispose of them as follows.
I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas one hundred pounds of Lawful English money to be paid within one year after my decease. I give unto my said son Thomas that tenement or cottage now in the tenure or occupation of John Walker for and during the term of his natural life.
I bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth one hundred and fifty pounds to be paid within one year after my decease. And my mind and will further is that my daughter Elizabeth that shall have and take her choice and election of all my linen and plate. And have my best bed with it's furniture thereto belonging.
I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph twenty shillings in full of his portion
I give and bequeath unto my niece Elizabeth Mariot five pounds to be paid within one year of my decease.
I give and bequeath unto James Horton his heirs and assigns for ever all my land tenements and hereditments with all their appurtenances together with the residue of all my real and personal estate goods, cattle and chattels whatsoever hereby constituting and ordaining him the said James Horton the sole executor of this my last Will and Testament. Revoking all former and other wills by me made or at any time pretended to be made and declaring this to be my last and only Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the tenth day of March in the second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King James of England Scotland & France and Ireland &c. And in the year of Our lord God 1685/6
