John Prue 1531
In the name of God Almighty 3rd. day July 1531. I John Prue of whole and perfect mind do make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God and Our Lady Saint Mary and to all saints, my body to be buried in the churchyard of Saint Margaret's church of Alldyrton.
Item to the mother church of Lincoln 2d.
Item to the high altar of Saint Margaret 3s. to buy an alter cloth.
Also to Saint Margaret light a pound of wax.
Item to the sepulcher light 2 pounds wax.
Item to the rood light a pound wax.
Item to Saint Erasmus light a pound wax.
Item to the repairs of the bells .. qrs barley.
Also I bequeath to Henry Dalroy my son my red coat.
Item also I will that I have delt for the health of my soul penny dole [illeg] the parish church of Allderton. And those of the country to have obit also a [missing] to syn[.] a tryntall for me and my wife in the church of Allderton 10s
Also I bequeath to Sir William Lee parish parson 3s 4d to pray for me.
Also I bequeath to Richard Butler to see my Will performed 6s 8d
Item to William Barett a qtr. of barley and half a qtr. malt.
Item to every of my godchildren 4d.
Item to the mending of Twyford bridge 20d.
The residue of my goods not bequeathed I give and bequeath freely to Margaret my wife the one half of these and the other half of my goods unto Henry Dalroy my son indifferently to be divided as well movable and unmovable at the sight of the said Richard Butler and deliverance to be made. And parting of the said goods when the said Margaret or Henry Dalroy will have there to be divided between them. And the said Henry Dalroy my son to stand and be charged with all manner of costs and charges at my burial of his own proper goods, the said Margaret nothing to [illeg] with all. And also I will that the said Henry Dalroy be at no further charges and payments but the said costs at my burial. Also I do will the said Margaret my wife and Henry Dalroy my son my executor and executrix And perform this my last Will. Witnessed by Thomas Camfield Edward Pen Robert Holman and others.
