Alice Swaine 1597

In the Name of God Amen the 21st. day of February in the year of Our Lord God everlasting 1597. I Alice Swaine being sick in body but perfect memory God be thanked do make my last Will and Testament as here follows first I bequeath my soul to God and my body to the ground to buried in the churchyard of Alderton in some convenient place at the discretion of my executor.
I give to my daughter Audry Bruffe one mattress one pair of blankets one bolster one pillow 4 pair of sheets 3 smocks 4 kerchiefs 6 partlet one hillinge 2 gowns 2 petticoats one coffer 3 aprons one great kettle 2 great plates one candlestick 2 napkins one table cloth.
I give to her seven yards of new collie russet
I give to Edward Penne my brother one pair of sheets.
I give to goodwife Butler 2 pair of sheets and a kerchief
I give to goodwife Pickringe one pair of sheets and a fine carthowe
I give to Margaret Buswell one pair of sheets.
I give to Dorothy Savage one smock.
I give to Margaret Lawrence one smock.
I give to goodwife Heale one smock.
I give to Mary Alline one petticoat.
I give to Frances Penne one kettle.
I give to Alice Penne one kettle. And to them I give all the rest of my pewter.
All the rest of my goods unbequeathed I give to my cousin Edward Penne whom I make my whole executor to pay my legacies and to see me honorably brought to the ground. I give to Anne Burges one pair of sheets one petticoat one smock 2 hardon aprons one old hat.
