Richard Travell 1604

In the name of God Amen the 14th day of May in the year of Our Lord God after the Computations of the church of England 1604. I Richard Travell of Alderton in the Church of Northampton yeoman being sick in body but whole and prefect memory for the which I give up hearty thanks unto Almighty God make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and above all things I commend my soul unto the hands of God my only maker and redeemer through the blood of his dear son Jesus Christ by whose only merits I hope to be saved and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Alderington aforesaid further more my will is that my wife Annes shall be my sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament to whom I give and bequeath all my chattels goods and commodities whatsoever except hereafter bequeathed.
Also I give to my god children 12d a piece.
Also I give unto the poor in the town 4d a piece.
Also I give unto Thomas Woodward Mr. Lemes man that now is my red heifer the lesser. And in consideration that she my said wife shall fulfill and accomplish this my last Will and Testament as it further ensues that is I give and bequeath unto my man and my maid 2s. a piece.
And to Goody Holman's man and maid 12d a piece.
Also I give unto Robert Rocingaine his hanger again and 2s 6d of money.
Also I give unto John Marriott's little girl 12d.
After my will is that my said wife shall pay those said dues between this and Christmas next ensuing. And my will is that my said wife shall have all my wheat and barley and peas on the ground both meadow and grass both in the parish of Alderton aforesaid or the parish of Pallersperie [Paulerspury] in the said county.
Also I give unto my sister of Yeardley [Yardley] 2s. In witness whereof the said Richard Travel the testator to this my present Will and Testament have put my hand thereon the day and year first above written in the presence of us the [illeg] of the said testator Wh[…] John Holman writer hereof the mark of Dorothie Winwill.
