Edward Waples 1668

November the 30th. 1667
In the name of God Amen, I Edward Waples of Aldrington in the county of Northampton labourer, being sick in body but of good and perfect memory (thanks be to Almighty God). Do make constitute and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following; and first being penitent and sorry for my sins past, humbly desiring forgiveness of the same. I give and commit my soul unto Almighty God, my saviour and redeemer, in whom and by the merits of Jesus Christ, I trust to be saved, and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Aldrington where my executors, hereafter named, shall appoint and for the settling of my temporal estate and goods and chattels as it has pleased God to bestow upon me; I do give and dispose the same in manner and form following.
Viz: First I give &and bequeath unto my son Edward Waples an apprentice in London half my cottage house in Aldrington aforesaid with half the land and appurtenances there unto belonging to possess and enjoy when he comes out of his apprenticeship yielding and paying to my youngest son John Waples the sum of ten pounds out of the same, within five years after my decease, which ten pounds I do hereby bequeath unto my son John Waples.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebeccah Waples the sum of £20, to be paid unto her at the day of marriage by my executrix hereafter mention, and half of my household good whatever they be.
Item I give and bequeath unto Rebeckah Waples my beloved wife the other half of my cottage house and land thereunto belonging and undisposed of, for the term of her natural life, and after her decease, to my eldest son Edward Waples and likewise I give unto her the other half of my household goods undisposed of, and chattels whatsoever to be at her disposing; whom I make my sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament to pay my debts and funeral expenses in witness whereof I have put to my hand and seal the day and year above written.
