ROLLS OF HONOUR

The main Roll of Honour hangs in the Church and is a list which seems to have started with 28 names in alphabetical order and has had a further seven names added at a later date.

It appears to be a list of those who volunteered for the First World War as opposed to those who were called up. It only includes three of the names found on the War Memorial so should therefore only be considered a partial list of those who served from Hartwell.

In the Conservative Club hangs a plaque signed by those who served in the Second World War thanking the people of Hartwell for their support through the Comfort Fund.

To the people of Hartwell

We, who have served in HM Forces
and the Merchant Navy during
the War 1939-1945, heartily thank
you for your generosity to us in
the form of the Comforts Fund.
We are very grateful to the
committee, whose untiring
efforts have made this fund the
best in the County. We are
proud to have been of service
to such good neighbours.
