Edward Addington 1623

In the name of God Amen The tenth day of September in the year of our Lord God 1623 I Edward Addington of Pottersperie in the county of Northampton victualler being sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance laud and praise be to Almighty God do make and ordain this my present Testament declaring herein my last Will in manner and form following. That is to say First I commend my sole unto Almighty God my maker and to his only son Jesus Christ my redeemer fully trusting and verily believing that by the only merits death and bitter passion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I shall be saved and my body to be buried in the parish church of Pottersperie aforesaid. Item I bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough four pence. Item I give and bequeath to my son Mathusala twelve pence. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Cuthbert twelve pence. Item I give and bequeath to my son Andrewe twelve pence Item my will is that my executor hereinafter named shall pay unto my son Edward the sum of fifty shillings of good and lawful money of England which money I do give unto him. And I do give and bequeath unto my said son Edward forty shillings of like money To be paid to him within one year next after the approbation of this my last Will by my executor hereafter named. Item I give and bequeath to Anne my daughter the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of England to be paid to her by my executor hereafter named in manner and form following that is to say the sum of the five pounds parcel of the said ten pounds within one month next after the marriage of the said Anne and the other five pounds being the residue of the said ten pounds at the end of two years next after her said marriage. And my will is that from and after the approbation of this my last Will the said Anne shall be maintained and kept until she do marry at the costs and charge of my executor hereafter named from time to time so long as she the said Anne shall not nor cannot be able to work and maintain herself by service Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the sum of five pounds of lawful money of England to be paid to her by my executor hereafter named when the said Elizabeth shall be of the age of twenty and one years or day of marriage which shall first happen Item I give and bequeath to my son Richard the sum of five pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto him by my executor hereafter named when he shall be of the age of twenty and one years. Item I give and bequeath unto Alice my now wife my house and homestell with the appurtenances wherein I now dwell in Pottersperie aforesaid for and during her natural life without impeachment of waste Item I give and bequeath moreover to my said son Richard from and after the death or decease of Alice my said wife the said house and homestell with all and singular their appurtenances wherein I now dwell in Pottersperie aforesaid To have and to hold the said house and homestell with all and singular their appurtenances from and after the death or decease of Alice my now wife to him the said Richard and to his heirs and assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my grandchild Edward Addington the sum of five shillings All the rest of my goods cattles and chattels moveable and unmoveable after my debts paid and legacies before in these present given and bequeathed well and truly performed and discharged I give and bequeath to Alice my now wife whom I do make ordain and constitute the sole executor of this my last Will and Testament And I utterly revoke all and every other former Wills and testaments bequests and gifts before this time by me made willed and bequeathed And I do desire my very loving neighbours Paull Boughton and Michaell Tassell to be the overseers that this my last Will and Testament be well and truly performed according to the true intent and meaning thereof And I do give and bequeath to them for their pains to be taken therein 12d a piece In witness that this is my last Will and Testament.
