Robert Addington 1557
In the Name of God Amen the 21st day of October 1557 witness that I Robert Addington of Potterspury als. Est purie within the county of Northampton husbandman being sick in body and whole in mind do make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I bequeath my soul unto Almighty God in whom is all my trust our blessed Lady St. Mary and unto all the blessed company of heaven and my body to be buried in the church of Potterspurie aforesaid before the rood Item I bequeath to the blessed sacrament pro decimis oblitis 12d Item I bequeath to the bells in the same church 12d Item I bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough 2d I bequeath to Ralfe my house in Blackwell End and £4 in money or in wares I bequeath to John my son my house which is called the backhouse and £4 in money or in wares I bequeath to William my son a little house unto adjoining unto the said backhouse and £4 in money or ware I bequeath to Thomas my son and Henry my son my land that lays in [S]rancher Shernes field in the parish of Cosgrave And I will that it be divided equally between them at the discretion of my brother William Addington and John Hilliar and I do give to Thomas and Henry my sons £4 a piece either in money or money worth and I will that these my legacies of money to be delivered unto my children at 21 years of age and I will that if any of my children do depart this world I will that his or their land or goods shall be divided equally amongst the rest and I will my youngest son shall have the best part I will it that my land which I have given my children that my wife shall have it during her life I bequeath to John Harberd my godson a lamb I give to Sir Thomas Folwell my ghostly father 12d to pray for me the residue of my goods and chattels I do give them and bequeath them all unto my wife she to dispose them as she thinks best and I do ordain and make her my full executrix I do make my supervisors William Addington John Hillear Thomas Newnton to see this my last Will to be performed and they to have for their pains taking 2s a piece witness hereunto Sir Thomas Folwell vicar John Watken and Thomas Harberd with other men
