William Bason 1796
In the name of god Amen I William Bason the elder of Potterspury in the county of Northampton, mason, Do make publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I give devise and bequeath all and singular my messuages, cottages, lands, tenements and hereitaments with their and every of their appurtenances situate lying and being in Potterspury aforesaid unto my dear and loving wife Ann Bason and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life, And from and immediately after her decease, then I give devise and bequeath all that my messuage, cottage or tenement with the appurtenances situate in Potterspury aforesaid in the occupation of my son William Bason and known by the sign of the Black Horse, unto my said son William Bason and to his heirs and assigns for ever, charged and chargeable nevertheless And I do hereby charge my said messuage cottage or tenement last mentioned with the appurtenances with the payment of the sum of thirty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain unto my son John Bason, and to be paid to him at the decease of my said wife Ann Bason, And also from and immediately after the decease of my said wife Ann Bason I do give and bequeath all that messuage, cottage, or tenement, with the appurtenances in Potterspury aforesaid in my own occupation and also all that my cottage or tenement with the appurtenances in Potterspury aforesaid, and in the occupation of Thomas Williams, and adjoining to the last mentioned messuage cottage or tenement, unto my son Joshua Bason and to his heirs and assigns for ever subject to the encumbrances now affecting the same And from and immediately after the decease of my said wife Ann Bason, I give devise and bequeath all that my cottage or tenement with the appurtenances in Potterspury aforesaid in a certain place called Blackwell End now in the occupation of William Holloway heretofore the estate and property of [blank] Dyer, unto my son Thomas Bason his heirs and assigns for ever Also from and immediately after the decease of my said wife Ann Bason I give and bequeath all that my said cottage or tenement with the appurtenances situate in Potterspury aforesaid near to the Black Horse, and now in the occupation of my son in law john Calvert (subject to a way and passage through the yard for carts, carriages, horses, or on foot to and from my aforesaid messuage cottage or tenement known by the sign of the Black Horse, at all seasonable times) unto my daughter Anna Calvert, wife of my son in law john Calvert, and to her heirs and assigns forever Charged and chargeable nevertheless And I do hereby charge my said last mentioned cottage or tenement with the appurtenances with the payment of the sum of twenty pounds of like lawful money of Great Britain unto my daughter Susannah Grey, wife of William Grey, at the decease of my said wife Ann Bason. Item all my household goods and implements of household goods, chattels, cattle, effects, ready money, securities for money, and all other my personal estate of what nature or kind soever or wherever I give and bequeath unto my said wife Ann Bason, to and for her own use and benefit, she paying thereout all my just debts and funeral expenses (except the principal money and interest which shall be due at my death on mortgage of my said dwelling house and premises herein before by me given and devised unto my said son Joshua Bason and his heirs) And I do hereby make and constitute my said wife Ann Bason sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament And lastly I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of pare to the first sheet thereof set my hand, and to the alst sheet thereof my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight.
Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Bason, the testator, to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, and attested and subscribed I his presence and in the presence of each other, by us

On the twenty third day of April 1796 Ann Bason the executrix named in the within Will, was sworn well and faithfully to perform the same according to law, and that the deceased at the time of his death was not possessed of a personal estate to the amount of £300
