James Bembrooke 1731
In the name of god Amen I James Bembrooke of Potters Pury in the county of Northampton labourer being in good health of body and of a sound disposing mind and memory and understanding (praised be God for the same) but considering the uncertainty of life do make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God my creator trusting it be saved through the merits and mediation of my blessed saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ And my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named And as to my temporal estate I dispose thereof as follows First I give devise and bequeath all that my messuage cottage or tenement with the appurtenances situate lying and being in Potters Pury aforesaid wherein I now inhabit and dwell unto my loving wife Anne Bembrooke for and during the term of her natural life or so long as she shall continue my widow And from and after her decease or second marriage which shall first happen I give devise and bequeath the same unto my nephew in law Henry Saunders son of my brother in law Henry Saunders and to his heirs and assigns for ever Item all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever or wheresoever (my debts if any I shall owe at the time of my decease and funeral charges being first paid and satisfied) I give devise and bequeath unto my said loving wife Ann Bembrooke And I do make my said wife Anne Bembrooke full and sole executrix of this my last Will and testament And I do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills by me heretofor made In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this twelfth day of August in the seventh year of the reign of our soverign Lord George by the grace of God of great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the Faith etc. Anno Dom one thousand and seven hundred and twenty
