William Bird 1755

In the name of God Amen the eighteenth day of November 1751 I William Bird of Potterspury in Northamptonshire labourer being very sick and weak in body but of a perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God for it and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executrix as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form First I give and bequeath unto my brother John Bird the sum of two shillings and six pence Item I give to my well beloved wife Elizabeth Bird all the rest and residue of my goods chattels and personal estate after my debts and funeral charges be fully paid and I do make and ordain my said beloved wife sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills by me heretofore made In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of November in the twenty fourth year of our Soverign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith 1751
