Richard Church 1717

In the name of god amen I Richard Church of Potterspury in the county of Northampton Tailor being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory and judgment praised be therefore given to Almighty God do make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it hoping through the merits death and passion of my blessed Lord Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life: And my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named: And as for and touching all such temporal estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow on me I give and dispose thereof as follows first I will that my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged Item I give and devise to my wife Elizabeth all that messuage cottage or tenement in Potterspury aforesaid wherein I now dwell with all the appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging and also all my lands in the parish of Potterspury and Yardley Gobion with their and every of their appurtenances to have and to hold to my said wife Elizabeth for and during her natural life if she so long continue a widow and unmarried but immediately from and after her marriage again or decease which shall first happen I give and devise all and every the said premises to my son William Church and his heirs for ever he paying thereout ten pounds a piece to his brother Thomas and sister Elizabeth Church within six months after it shall so come into his hands And all the rest of my goods and chattels rights and credits and personal estate whatsoever I give and bequeath and devise to my loving wife Elizabeth Church whom I hereby make and appoint and ordain my full and sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament beseeching and requiring her to take care of my children and to bring them up in the fear of Lord God And lastly I revoke and disannul and make void all and all manner of former and other Wills by me in anywise heretofore made or declared hereby ratifying and confirming this my last Will and Testament being contained in one sheet of paper In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifth day of August in the fourth year of the reign of our Soverign Lord George by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith Anno Dom 1717
