William Collard 1556
In the name of God Amen 19 day of the month of March in the year of our Lord God 1556 witness that I William Collard of Potterspurye als. Estpurye within the county of Northampton yeoman being sick in body and whole of mind thanks be given to Almighty God do make my last Will or Testament in manner and form following first I bequeath my soul to Almighty God to our Lady St. Mary and to all the Holy company of heaven and my body to be buried in the Lady Chapel in the upper of the same church on the left within the church aforesaid and for my burial there I bequeath towards the repairs of the same church 6s. 8d. I bequeath to the blessed sacrament pro decimis oblitis 6s. 8d. I bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough 4d. I bequeath to the church of Potterspurie towards the repairs of the ornaments 3s. 4d. I bequeath to the repairs of the bells in the same church 12d. I bequeath to Ane Bowgton my wife before God £13 6s. 8d. I bequeath to my godchildren every one a sheep I bequeath to Margaret Yearle and to Anne Yarley the daughters of Richard Yarley of Yardley Gobben 10s. a piece and to John Yardley his son 40s and if it chance that any of them do depart the world before the other I will that one shall be anothers heir and if it chance that they all do depart the world I will that the father and mother shall have I bequeath to John Bondfyld my gray nag my saddle and bridle and my best cloak I do bequeath to John Ellys my crossbow and my bracke I bequeath to the poor men's boxes 3s. 4d. I bequeath to the mending of the highways from the Hermitage of Stony Stratford to the pynfold of Shrobbe 3s. 4d. I bequeath to the mending of the highways by Potterspury Parke at Mowsbroke Corner 3s. 4d. Item I bequeath to Richard Yearle for his pains taking £3 I bequeath to Olyv Yarle my best cow and calf I bequeath to William Goodman a shod cart and certain boards with a piece of timber I bequeath to Elyne Yearl my featherbed and my mattress my blanket my covering with the bolsters and pillows a chest a cupboard that is in the par[lor] I bequeath to Agnes Spencer a shirt and an old coat I bequeath to Mr sergen [sergeant] Clarke a bay colt I bequeath to Sir Thomas Foldwell my parish father a buck skin ready tanned The residue of my goods unbequeathed I do give and bequeath them all to Ane Bowghton my wife before God and she to see my body to be honestly brought to the ground to dispose the rest that it may be for my soul health and comfort and I do order and make my full executors Ane Browghton and John Browgton her brother to see that this my last Will be performed and my debts and I will that the said John Browghton shall have for his pains taking 40s. I do make supervisors to see this my last Will to be performed Edward Wodward Richard Scriner and they to have for their pains taking 3s. 4d. a piece witness hereunto Sir Thomas Folwell John Kyrbye William Baston Thomas Yarley William Smyth John Goodman senior John Yearle John Goodman with other men
