John Dawes 1844

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Dawes of Potterspury in the county of Northampton slater being of sound mind memory and understanding First I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied And I give and devise unto my wife All those my six messuages cottages or tenements with the gardens yards outbuildings rights members and appurtenances to the same respectively belonging situate standing lying and being in Potterspury aforesaid and now in the several tenure or occupations of Thomas Bason John Henson George Richardson Thomas Robinson William Church and Betty Sanders And all other and real estates whatsoever and wherever and whether in possession or reversion remainder or expecting whereof I have a disposing power To hold the same unto and to the use of my wife Charlotte Dawes her heirs and assigns for ever And I give and bequeath all and singular my household goods furniture linen china stock and effects whatsoever and wheresoever or of what nature or kind the same may be unto my said wife Charlotte to and for her own use and benefit absolutely And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife Charlotte Dawes sole executrix of this my Will hereby revoking all former and other Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made and I do declare this and this alone to be and contain my true last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said John Dawes the testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named John Dawes the testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

On the twenty sixth day of October 1844 Charlotte Dawes of Potterspury widow the sole executrix named in the foregoing Will of John Dawes late of Potterspury aforesaid slater deceased was then sworn well and faithfully to perform and fulfil the same And that the said deceased at the time of his death (which happened on the 12th day of October instant) was not possessed of goods chattels and credits of the value of one hundred pounds
